I create small drawings that are a reflection of my own cognitive functions. I am interested in deconstructing memory, language and perception down to a bare-boned operative system similar to that of a computer or circuit board. Using graphite on vellum, my work mimics the clean communicative imagery seen in the form of electronic schematics and blueprints.
In the making of my drawings I use rulers, compasses and protractors as guides to create geometric shapes and lines that are multiplied on the page. With this I am able to surrender perfectionism to my tools. The tools allow my mind to organize my “flow,” a form of auto-pilot for making. My process reflects how a circuit board facilitates an electrical flow. With this, I take my personal cognitive functions and place them in a loop of unconscious structure that becomes a limitless map of the mind.
